Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Unveil Renovated Good Neighbor Club at Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA

The Atlanta Hawks and State Farm have teamed up once again to unveil a newly renovated Good Neighbor Club at the Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA in Southwest Atlanta. The renovation features a refurbished basketball court, built-in seating, lighting upgrades, and new basketball equipment, making it a multi-functional space for the local community.

The Good Neighbor Club, named in honor of civil rights leaders and Atlanta icons, is the 10th of its kind and was chosen for its strong ties to the Southwest Atlanta community. The Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA has a special connection to the Hawks and Dominique Wilkins, with the basketball court being named in honor of the Hawks legend approximately 15 years ago.

“I’m super excited to be a part of the Hawks and State Farm’s new Good Neighbor Club and help continue to impact the local youth at the Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA,” said Dominique Wilkins. “From the court dedication 15 years ago to now, it’s been amazing to see the legacy grow and I’m excited to watch this Good Neighbor Club impact even more local youth.”

The unveiling event featured special activities for the youth in attendance, including basketball skills challenges, relay races, and a torch craft. Attendees also enjoyed a surprise visit from Hawks entertainment, including Harry the Hawk, the ATL Dancers, and Flight Crew.

In addition to Dominique Wilkins, the Young brothers, and the Hawks and State Farm representatives, the unveiling event was attended by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and several Atlanta City councilmembers.

The Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA has been serving the Southwest Atlanta community for over 60 years, focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Hawks and State Farm have previously opened nine Good Neighbor Clubs in various locations around Metro Atlanta, furthering their commitment to community-focused initiatives.
