Denver Nuggets Fall to Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4, Look to Regroup for Game 5
The Denver Nuggets suffered a tough loss in Game 4 of their first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers, falling 119-108 after entering the game with a 3-0 lead. Now, both teams are heading back to Denver for a pivotal Game 5.
Despite the setback, the odds are still in Denver’s favor as no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in NBA history. The Nuggets have two more games at home to close out the series and advance to the next round. Prior to Game 4, Denver had been on an impressive 11-game winning streak.
Nikola Jokić led the Nuggets with an outstanding performance, recording a triple-double with 33 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists. Michael Porter Jr. also had a strong showing with 27 points and 11 rebounds, just one point shy of tying his playoff career-high in scoring.
On the other side, LeBron James led the Lakers with 30 points, while Anthony Davis contributed 25 points and an incredible 23 rebounds. The Lakers dominated in the paint, outscoring the Nuggets 72-52 in that area.
Head coach Michael Malone expressed his disappointment in the team’s lack of physicality and urgency in the game, stating that it did not feel like a closeout game.
Despite a late surge by the Nuggets in the fourth quarter, the Lakers maintained their lead and secured the victory. Now, all eyes are on Game 5 in Denver as both teams look to gain the upper hand in the series.
